Story
The team, armed with the knowledge of Dr. Messer's rustic cabin, decided to head out to find the missing scientist. As they left Saint Superior's secret lair, they found the morning newspaper with a headline pertaining to them: MYSTERY HEROICS TAKE THE BATTLE TO THE GANGS. The article, written by Centropolis's own Tamara Tayte recounted the adventures of session 2 where both a gang of Flying Devils and Dark Jokes were taken down by the heroes.
During their journey across Centropolis, the team first ran into Tamara Tayte and spoke with her briefly, confirming their role in battling the gangs from her article. She gave a card with her contact information to the team and asked for any exclusive stories they could give her.
Continuing on, they spotted a green streak in the sky that began to attack a nearby building. Curious as to what was happening, the team ventured closer and saw that two young girls were firing back at the flying green man who was shouting, "You shall not hide the power from Nuclearrow! I will have it all!" Nuclearrow, armed with a bow capable of shooting nuclear bolts continued to assault the building. War Urchin, Starshine and Brick Soldier joined the girls in defending the building and were able to repel Nuclearrow who disappeared in a flash of green light.
The two girls on the roof, Alexa Universe and Ms. Moon were protecting two others who had been injured during the attack, Wish Girl and Alley Cat. The team helped bring the two injured girls inside and learned that they were at the Anderson Institute of Technology (AIT), one of the country's most prestigious technical colleges. The Dean and Founder of the school, Dr. Penny Anderson came in took to caring for the two injured girls and healing any wounds in the team. The girls were a part of a special Masters program at the school that taught exceptional young women how to use and control their powers.
Dr. Anderson, gave the team a satellite image of the cottage they sought and told them to come back if they needed help.
There were two routes open to the team, following a road and approaching through the woods. Choosing to move through the woods, they climbed a small ridge and were confronted by a grizzly bear. They tried to circumvent the bear, but it was tenacious in pursuing and attacking them. They soon discovered, as it grew to five times its normal size that this was no ordinary bear. Using coordinated attacks, the team pushed the bear towards the ridge, but were able to defeat it before it went over the side. Before their eyes it transformed into a rugged looking mountain man. Choosing to keep an eye on the man, Brick Soldier carried him over his shoulder as they continued toward the cabin.
Arriving, they could see the cabin was occupied as smoke rose from the chimney, but could not see inside. Starshine chose to sneak towards the door and as she did a shot rang out, skimming her shoulder. War Urchin focused on where the shot came from and saw a glint of light. Taking a shot of her own, War Urchin hit whoever was on the far rocks and the team all raced inside the cabin where they found Dr. Messer jumping down into a panic room. Brick Soldier pursued and with his Superior Strength, ripped the panic room door open and jumped down inside, followed by War Urchin.
Starshine stayed behind in the cabin and felt a sinister presence enter. The Deviant known as The Unseen tried to enter, but was discovered by the sorceress and the two battled. Starshine saw that The Unseen kept reaching out a hand to touch her and kept distance between the two.
Below, Brick Soldier and War Urchin attempted to interrogate Dr. Messer who recognized them from their captivity at the Eudicys complex. He shouted that Baromis were protecting him now, and the Heroics should leave. Brick Soldeir knocked him out and decided they should take him with them while War Urchin set the panic room to detonate the cabin.
Outside, the sound of a motor buzzing was growing louder, but several shots from a rifle caused whatever it was to explode and shower the cabin with a lethal green gas. The Unseen, trying to escape the cabin, ran into the gas and fell to the ground. The team, with little time remaining before the cabin exploded, took the doctor and tried to cover their faces, but upon entering the gas cloud, they felt tiny particles attaching to their skin and boring inside. From their recollection of the map, the made their way to a small pond and tried to jump in, but the water had no effect of the particles.
As they climber out of the water, a man who looked strangely like a prohibition hobo approached. War Urchin identified him as a truly evil individual and began to fight him, shoving a grenade into his mouth and disintegrating his lower jaw. The Deviant known as Mr. Wheaton was not dead yet, but there was no time to finish him off as the sniper, in gleaming grey armor was stalking towards them.
The team left the woods and made their way back into the city, getting weaker by the moment. They decided to go back to the AIT lab to see if Dr. Anderson might have a way to help them.
This is where the third session ended.
